Located on the banks of the Erne, the Heritage Centre exhibits the collections of the County Museum in award winning displays enhanced by audio- visual programmes spanning the history of Fermanagh, its wildlife and landscapes.  Range of special exhibitions throughout the year.  The Castle Keep houses the Museum of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers; displays span the history of the Castle and the development of Enniskillen town.  The Curved Barracks includes displays on the County’s archaeological and historic monuments.

 ‘With Scott to the Pole’ continues to  10 Feb.  A Photography exhibition of Captain Robert Scott’s final ill-fated  expedition to Antarctica 1910-1913 from the Royal Geographical Society.  Captain Lawrence Oates who served in the 6th Inniskilling Dragoons accompanied Captain Scott on this expedition

‘Fermanagh Collectors: Past and Present’. 3 March to 29 May.

Situated in the servants’ quarters of a Georgian House, the Basement Gallery hosts 3 annual exhibitions – Spring, Summer and Christmas.  On display is a variety of acclaimed artists’ work – including stunning sculptures, original prints and a beautiful selection of oils and watercolours.  Coffee is served in the original kitchen where handmade Irish pottery is sold.  Explore the rooms where servants worked 200 years ago and enjoy the wonderful paintings and pottery.

The Spring Exhibition will include artists from all over Ireland for this group show which promises a selection of watercolours, oils and original prints.  The chosen artists enjoy a variety of subjects from still life to detailed studies of meadow flowers and beachcombers.

The Sliabh Beagh Way is a 25 mile linear walk starting at St Patrick’s Chair and Well in Co. CUILCAGH MOUNTAIN PARK,Marble Arch Caves, Marlbank, Florencecourt

Currently one of only 25 Geoparks around the world.  265 hectare site containing internationally important areas of pristine blanket bog, home to several rare or endangered species of plants and birds.  Also includes areas of damaged bog, currently being restored.  Hill walking available in the park along the Legnabrocky Trail to the summit of the mountain (return journey takes at least 6 hours).   Interpretative exhibition housed in the Marble Arch Caves Visitor Centre. The Flying School is registered by the Civil Aviation Authority to carry out fixed wing flight training to the JAA/FCL standards. The School operates five days per week (Wednesday through to Sunday). The School can provide gift vouchers in addition to teaching students how to fly. Gift vouchers are valid for 9 months and prices start at £70. Two-seater and four-seater aircraft are available. All the training manuals and equipment necessary for the training course are kept in stock.

A currency exchange is operated by all banks and  the main Post Office in High Street, Enniskillen.  Details regarding the location of banks, cash points etc are also available from the tourist office.

SHOPPING

Enniskillen town centre boasts a wide range of national retail outlets complemented by the more traditional family run businesses.  The Railway Junction Retail Park and a large Dunnes Store is located in Forthill Street and the wooden footbridge (visible from tourist office) on Wellington Road gives pedestrian access to  Erneside Shopping  Centre (access also from the Derrychara Link Road).   Browse for bargains at the street market every Thursday in Forthill Street.

General opening hours for the shops:  Monday to Saturday 9am to 5.30/6.00pm.(some shops have half day closing on Wednesdays).   Dunnes and Erneside are also open on Sunday afternoons with late night shopping to 9pm on Thursdays and Fridays.
